Wireless Internet :: Wireless Network

A wireless network makes reference to any kind of network that does not make use of wires. Most often however the term "wireless network" is used to describe a telecommunication network such as a computer network that makes use of electromagnetic waves (for example, radio waves) to both transmit as well as implement the physical manifestations or layers of the entire network.

A wireless network or a number of wireless networks make it possible for computers to share any number of items, whether they be files, an internet connection, and printers and this is all done without wires needing to be employed anywhere. A wireless network setup involves radio frequencies that send information from one computer to another. In order to do wireless networking, each individual computer requires a wireless network adapter. To bridge the entire wireless network a wireless router or wireless network hub is needed to connect to home telephone line networks, conventional ethernet or to simply make it possible for there to be an internet connection that is shared.

To learn how to set up a wireless network such as a home wireless network or a wireless mesh network check with your internet provider or search over the net for the information you require. Long-range wireless networks are possible as are wireless networks for the xbox.

There are many different types of wireless network operations and one is known as the wireless LAN. LAN stands for "Local Area Network" and this type makes use of radio waves as opposed to wires to get information from one area to another. The Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is another type of wireless network and this one is broken down into three main systems which include the switching system, secondly, the base system and lastly the operation and support system. When using a cell phone its first connection point is the base system station, which then transmits information to the operation, and support station. When the call goes where it needs to go it then is transferred to the switching station. The GSM is the form of wireless used by most cell phone companies and is considered to be the common industry standard. Other types of wireless networks include Personal Communication Service (PCS), D-AMPS (or Digital Advanced Mobile Phone Service), Wi-Fi, and Fixed Wireless Data.

Wireless networks dates back to World War II. A wireless home network or wireless network operation in a business is mobile and does not include any wires of cables but the security is still not as good as that of a wired network. It is not uncommon for there to be hacking into wireless networks and although the wireless networking evolution is growing stronger with each passing day, many companies still prefer the security and safety of using a wired setup. Some people have opted for an external antenna wireless network but only the future will tell what is to come for wireless networks.
